We're often asked for our opinion on the best golf courses to play. We're fortunate that we can defer to a group of golfers that have experienced many courses from around the world - you guys, our Hole19 users. Hole19 golfers cast their votes with their feet, and by rating their experience of the course in their app after a round.
Here are the top 10 courses in Costa del Sol in 2018 as played by our favourite people... Hole19 golfers:
#1 Atalaya Golf & Country Club (Old) - 4.3 out of 5 stars
This year, Atalaya Golf & Country Club has taken the first place as the most played course in the Costa del Sol amongst Hole19 Golfers. The Old Course's wide fairways and elevated greens make this championship course a challenge for both professionals and amateurs of all levels.
# 2 Club de Golf La Cañada - 4.4 out of 5
Located in the Sotogrande Resort, municipality of San Roque, Cádiz, this golf course's entertaining and not very long fairways, fast greens, large trees and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea constitute an ideal for sun and nature.
#3 Baviera Golf - 4.3 out of 5
Having a well deserved third place on our list, Baviera Golf is distinguished by its wide greens and a great variety of hazards which offer a big range of strokes and an ideal design for all types of handicap.
#4 Magna Marbella Golf - 4 out of 5
With par-29 holes, nine holes, bunkers protected by greens and an array of water hazards, Magna Marbella golf course is incredibly easy on the eye but something of a challenge – perfect for those with many years of golfing experience under their belts. However, that’s not to say lower-level players can’t enjoy a round here
#5 Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort (Links) - 4.4 out of 5
As the only links course in southern Europe, the Links Course at Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort is an extremely popular golfing venue. You'll play most of the holes flanked by the beach and if you can tear your eyes from the stunning sea views, the inland scenery is equally as impressive. As with any links course, the challenge here is presented by the prevailing winds and golfers will need to have their wits about them to come away with a good score and all the golf balls they started the round with.
#6 Guadalhorce Club de Golf - 4.3 out of 5
Just 7 km from Malaga airport, Guadalhorce Club de Golf is an 18-hole course divided into two very different areas. From the 1st to the 9th the fairways are flat with no major hazards; but from the 9th to the 18th the course gets quite tricky – the terrain is more uneven, the greens are raised and the fairways are more difficult.
#7 El Paraíso Golf Club - 4.1 out of 5
The layout of the course through this beautiful scenery provides an enjoyable test which is also equally fair, challenging and rewarding for golfers of all abilities. El Paraiso presents generous easy walking fairways set amongst palms and pines, oleanders and olives with meandering streams and two magnificent lakes.
#8 Añoreta Golf - 3.9 out of 5
Surrounded by trees and water, Añoreta Golf has a great design, with spectacular holes as number 7, with incredible sea views, or par 3 number 17, all surrounded by water. This 18-hole Golf Course can be played by either beginners or experienced golfers.
#9 Parador de Málaga Golf (Old Course) - 4.0 out of 5
If you love both golf and the sea, this is the ideal Golf Course for you, having direct access to a magnificent white-sand beach. Parador de Málaga is a two-story building with spacious, comfortable guest rooms that offer lovely sea views.
#10 Santana Golf & Country Club - 4.4 out of 5 stars
Last year Santana Golf & Country Club was the most played golf course amongst Hole19 golfers... can regain the first place again?
It's a technically demanding course set within a former avocado plantation. To shoot a solid score takes accuracy from tee to green and challenge golfers across their entire bag.
