Amateur Golf Put to the Test at 42nd TAP Open
The airline's amateur golf tournament is considered one of the best in the sport.
Between 9-16 November, the Laguna, Victoria, Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo golf courses in Vilamoura hosted one of the oldest and most highly-regarded tournaments in the sport with the 42nd edition of the TAP Open.
The airline's annual amateur golf tournament saw more than 200 players from 20 different countries put their golfing abilities to the test in the Portuguese sun with local golfer António Cândido de Oliveira prevailing and being presented with a scale model of an Airbus A330neo at the prize-giving dinner.
For 5 consecutive years (2013-2017), Portugal received the World's Leading Golf Destination award at the World Golf Awards ceremony, with this fact unequivocally endorsing the country as one of the best locations to play golf for golfers around the world. It's clear to see why Portugal has consistently collected this award as it offers more than 90 varied golf courses to be enjoyed in ideal weather with almost year-round sunshine.
All participating TAP Customers, as in previous editions, availed of special offers, namely a 20% discount on flight rates (except on Discount), and free golf equipment transportation. For those interested, the TAP Open also gave them access to a more exclusive stopover in Lisbon, with the Stopover Golf pack, which included accommodation for two nights, a green fee, an entrance to Arco da Rua Augusta and the Premium version of the Hole19 App during November.
