Callaway Big Bertha B21 Range Review
Hot on the heels of the highly-successful release of their MAVRIK line, Callaway have revealed the new Big Bertha B21 range of driver, woods and irons which promise easy launch, added distance and even more tech to help fight the most common of swing faults - the dreaded slice.
If you're looking to gain extra yards with every club in the bag and greater consistency on off-centre strikes, then the newest iteration of the iconic Big Bertha brand should be firmly on your radar.
Big Bertha B21 Driver
To help you hit the ball further and straighter from the tee-box, Callaway have developed the new Big Bertha B21 driver. It's jam-packed with technology to ensure you get maximum distance by removing that 'big miss' from your game.
A unique combination of high launch, low spin and a significant draw bias results in a more consistent and forgiving shot shape. The A.I designed Flash Face SS21 and innovative Jailbreak Technology combines with Super Strength Titanium to provide a total ball speed package.
Big Bertha B21 Fairway Woods
The Big Bertha B21s are Callaway's most comfortably launched fairway woods. With a shallower face, progressive lengths and a larger head, it's an easier golf club to hit and propels the golf ball further while providing better control. Fast ball speeds come from the A.I designed Flash Face SS21 Technology, with these numbers jacked-up even further due to distance-boosting Jailbreak Technology providing more speed at impact.
Big Bertha B21 Hybrids
Available in six lofts (3H - 8H), the Big Bertha B21 hybrid is - like the other clubs in the range - a total forgiveness package designed to eradicate that 'big miss' from your golf game. The introduction of the innovative MIM (Metal Injected Molding) tungsten weights into the sole helps improve launch and trajectory. Add in the larger head volume and increased offset at address, and it's clear to see why Callaway ranks the B21 as their easiest hybrid to launch ever.
Big Bertha B21 Irons
An A.I. designed Flash Face Cup is incorporated into a Big Bertha iron for the first time leading to higher ball speeds and increased spin robustness for every club in the set. The irons also feature a Visible Tungsten Energy Core (VTEC) which deepens the centre of gravity (CG) and makes the irons extremely easy to launch. A wide sole provides more consistent turf interaction, while the patented urethane microspheres reduce vibration leading to greater feel.
Big Bertha REVA Women's Family
Over the past while, Callaway have been researching and testing with women to develop advanced technologies for their game. Through this work, they have designed and produced a range of drivers, fairway woods, hybrid and irons all aimed at women.
More information on the Big Bertha REVA family of clubs will be released soon.
Our Verdict:
For us, we loved the added distance and forgiveness across the entire Callaway B21 range. The line-up is unashamedly aimed at the game-improvement golfer, and we feel that for mid-high handicappers they will be an excellent option offering both distance and slice-busting consistency.
Through the bag, these golf clubs are confidence-inspiring thanks to the additional offset at address while, in terms of acoustics, a combination of Flash Face architecture and Jailbreak Technology leads to a beautifully solid and crisp result when you catch one straight out of the middle.
Serial slicers can significantly benefit from gaming these sticks and will be happy to know that its almost impossible to hit anything right. Our overarching feeling is summed up perfectly by Callaway's very own tagline. Quite simply, this is... Distance Any Way You Swing It.
