Over the coming weeks and months we will look at the most popular courses in specific regions. Here we list the 10 golf courses in the United Kingdom rated most frequently by the Hole19 community. Let's do it in reverse order - just for the drama!
10.Cranham Golf Course – Essex – Rating 4.2
Cranham golf course is a 18 hole public course which is kept to the highest standard all year round. It is a par 67 which measures 5019 yards. The course has many features, one of which is an island green on the 18th hole.
9.The Belfry (Brabazon) – Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands - Rating 4.8
The majestic fairways and carpet-smooth greens of The Brabazon form a world-famous stage on which some of golf’s most exhilarating dramas have played out. With tight fairways, perilous bunkers, lakes and fast undulating greens, some of the world’s most accomplished golfers have toiled around what is a true golfing test.
For anyone who is serious about the game of golf, the Brabazon Course at The Belfry is an absolute must and, without doubt, one for the golfing ‘bucket list’.
8.Hoebridge Golf Course (Hoebridge) – Woking, Surrey – Rating 4.3
Beautifully laid out in picturesque countryside the 18 hole Hoebridge Course at 6536 yards offers an enjoyable test of golf for players of all abilities. With sensational views over the Surrey Downs the Hoebridge Course features a number of outstanding holes.
7.Celtic Manor (Roman Roads) – Newport, Wales – Rating 4.7
The very first of the Resort’s courses, Roman Road opened in 1995 and was ranked ‘the top inland course in Wales’ by Golf Monthly Magazine. Named after the old Via Julia Roman highway that ran through its fairways, this par 70 course overlooks the Severn Estuary with views across to Somerset and Devon. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
6.Richmond Park Golf Course (The Duke’s) – London – Rating 3.7
The Duke's Course at Richmond Park measures 6369 yards and is a par 71 test on the lower part of the estate that adjoins Richmond Park, so it really feels that you're playing golf within the Park's unique natural setting. The Duke's Course features many water hazards and the park's ancient brook.
5.Celtic Manor (Montgomerie) – Newport, Wales – Rating 4.5
Offering a spectacular par 69 challenge, the legendary Colin Montgomerie has called on all his Ryder Cup experience to create a course with many exciting tests of strategy.
The course difficulty is enhanced by deep and penal pot bunkers. Spectacular views abound with dramatic tee shots over valleys and breath-taking downhill shots.
4.Trent Park Public Golf Course – London - Rating 4.0
At 6,216 yards this beautiful par 70 parkland course offers a challenging game of golf to all levels, and is probably one of the best examples of pay and play golf in the London area.
3.Richmond Park Golf Course (The Prince’s) – London – Rating 3.8
The Prince's Course is the shorter of our two courses (5487 yards, par 68) and more undulating, with wonderful elevated views over Richmond Park's 3000 acres and beyond.
Due to its shorter length and wide fairways, the Prince's Course is often preferred by less experienced golfers, or golfers wanting a round with less challenges.
2.Silvermere Golf & Leisure – Cobham, Surrey – Rating 4.3
The tree-lined golf course at Silvermere is a true test of golf located in the heart of Surrey. The first six holes are sure to get the pulse racing with tight fairways, challenging approaches and great views. However, the course is probably most renowned for the 17th and 18th holes which are played over Silvermere Lake.
- Pine Ridge Golf Course – Camberley, Surrey – Rating 4.2
The course most rated by the Hole 19 community is Pine Ridge Golf Course in Surrey. A 18-hole, Par 72 Golf Course, it measures 6,458 yards from the Championship Tees and is within the country's top-10 public courses for quality and value.
With pine trees shaping each hole, the picturesque setting provides the perfect backdrop for a course which undulates enough to provide a great golfing challenge. Walking around this course is truly a pleasure.
