One of the most detrimental habits to form as an amateur golfer is that of rushing the downswing. It can lead to an inconsistent strike and an inability to reach your true golfing potential.
To help you hit the ball more solid, Eric Cogorno chats to JT Thomas who explains that when we’re talking about creating a better downswing, we need to take more time and care with our backswing, to create a positive knock-on effect on the way down. Golfers who rush the backswing, will automatically rush their downswing and won't have enough time to make the body movements required to make a solid strike.
Learn to count on your backswing - possibly even to 4, 5 or 6 - and you'll find that your body starts moving slightly towards the target before you've completely finished rotating back. Immediately you have better body separation and that only helps you strike the ball pure.
