Hole19: Our Favourite Masters Memories

Here at Hole19 HQ, we've already begun eagerly counting down to the first major championship of the year with The Masters now officially less than one month away.

The world's best golfers will descend upon Augusta National in early April and to help build-up to one of the greateast spectacles in world golf we've all been considering our own favourite moments in Masters history.

To help whet your appetite, here's what we've come up with.

Jack Nicklaus wins at 46 (1986)

The 18-time major winner had one last hurrah at the 1986 Masters. Playing the back nine in an unbelievable 30 shots he would ultimately finish one shot ahead of Greg Norman and Tom Kite.

The 'Golden Bear' remains the oldest winner of a Green Jacket at 46; can the newly-crowned WGC Mexico champ Phil Mickelson go one better and win a the ripe old age of 47 this year? Time will tell.

Tiger's first Green Jacket (1997)

There's no better way to announce yourself to the world of golf than winning a first major championship in your first attempt as a professional - and that's exactly what Tiger Woods managed back in 1997.

What was more impressive than the maiden major win itself was the manner in which it was delivered. The record-breaking 12-shot victory sent shockwaves around the world of golf and there was to be no doubt that it would be the first of many major championships for the then 20-year-old prodigy.

Bubba's 'banana shot' (2012)

Back at the 2013 Masters, Bubba Watson stunned the golfing world by pulling off an astonishing 'banana shot' hook in a playoff against the South African Louis Oosthuizen.

Even for a player who is widely-renowned for putting an unfathomable curve on a golf ball, it was a shot right out of the top drawer. Oh, and it helped him to the first of two glorious green jackets.

Fancy getting a breakdown of Bubba's physics-defying golf shot? It's all below:

Sergio's Sheds Maiden Tag

Pretty easy this one. The most vivid Masters memory for most of us is likely going to be the last.

At last year's tournament, Sergio Garcia managed to capture a first major championship at the 74th attempt. It lifted a huge burden from the then 37-year-old as it allowed him to break free of the shackles of being referred to as one of the 'best never to win a major'.

Sergio looked proud as punch when he was presented with his Green Jacket by 2016 champ Danny Willett:

'That' chip from Tiger (2005)

With a blended mix of pure perfection and sheer imagination, Tiger Woods hit an unerringly delicious chip from a perilous lie just off the sticky greenside rough.

The ball landed on a dime on the backstop and started on its line towards the hole before (eventually) dropping for the unlikeliest of birdies. Words defied many of us. "Oh, in your life have you seen anything like that?" came the call.
