Hole19's 2018/19 PGA Tour Predictions

Now that the first tournament of the wraparound 2018/19 PGA Tour golfing season has come to an end, we've been getting all prophetic and pulling together our predictions for the next twelve months on the Tour.

Following on from our 2017/18 prophecies which performed pretty well without pulling up any trees, we've decided to give it another bash and will be aiming to better last year's 50% strike rate.

So then, crystal balls at the ready, what are we expecting to see this season on the PGA Tour?

Justin Thomas Will Return To World No.1

'JT' is currently enjoying a consecutive run in the world top 10 of 60 weeks. The 2017 PGA Champion achieved his dream of becoming world number one back in May of this year and will have a real hunger to get back to the summit of the men's game.

The journey back to world number one starts at this weeks CIMB Classic and this is a prediction that we are pretty confident in.

In this video, Thomas discusses the feeling of playing along with Tiger Woods at Bellerive Country Club...

Joaquin Niemann Wins First PGA Tour Title

Chilean Joaquin Niemann is one of the most talented young golfers on the PGA Tour and we're predicting that he can take a maiden Tour title before the end of the 2018/19 season.

The former world number one amateur golfer secured four top tens in 2018 on Tour including a T-6 at The Memorial Tournament back in June which would gain him Special Temporary Member Status for the rest of 2018.

If you don't know much about him, you can enjoy a player profile of Niemann below...

Tiger Woods Breaks PGA Tour Record

Now that Tiger Woods has tasted victory once again after his stunning win at the Tour Championship, we expect this will serve only to increase his competitiveness this season.

The late, great Sam Snead currently holds the record of 82 PGA Tour victories so to catch and exceed this number Tiger will need to have a great season and capture a trio of wins on Tour. It's a long shot, but possible nonetheless.

Matt Kuchar Returns To Winning Ways

Yeah, that's right, we said it. 'Kuuuuccchhh' is without a win on the PGA Tour since 2014 and it will take a pretty seismic shift in his level of play to change that stat.

The Olympic bronze medallist has been rather inconsistent since missing out on a first major championship at Royal Birkdale in 2017. We believe he can get that win though.

Xander Schauffele Breaks Into World Top 10

Despite going a full calendar year without a win, Xander Schauffele has solidified his position within the world's top 20 golfers with impressive runner-up performances at The Players back in May and at Carnoustie for the 147th Open Championship.

With a win or two in 2019 we could see the young Californian break into the top 10 and we're hoping he can do just that.

Schauffele's most recent win on the PGA Tour was at 2017's Tour Championship...

Rory McIlroy's Fifth Major

Not technically a PGA Tour prediction this one but, in a year when the 148th Open Championship will arrive on the north coast of McIlroy's native Northern Ireland, we're predicting that a victory will come along in one of the four majors of the year.

Whether that fifth major championship will come at Augusta National, thereby catapulting McIlroy into golfing immortality by completing the career grand slam, we're not going to be that specific. If it happens, we'll be sure to remember that we at least gave it a nod!

European Wins WGC Dell MatchPlay

After their resounding success at Le Golf National, we expect that the 2019 WGC Dell Matchplay at Austin Country Club will be won by a European golfer and, going a step further, a member of the victorious 2018 Ryder Cup team.

Riding on a high from events just a couple of weeks ago, we think that any of Fleetwood, Molinari, McIlroy et al could take the second WGC event of the year in Texas.

If you're European you might be still basking in the glory of events in Paris. The video below will help you reminisce...
