We're often asked for our opinion on the best golf courses to play. We're fortunate that we can utilise a group of golfers that have experienced many courses from around the world - you guys, our Hole19 users. Hole19 golfers cast their votes with their feet, and by rating their experience of the course in their app after a round.
Here are the top 10 courses in Costa del Sol in 2018 as played by our favourite people... Hole19 golfers:
#1 Atalaya Golf & Country Club (Old) - 4.3 out of 5 stars
This year, Atalaya Golf & Country Club has taken first place as the most played course in the Costa del Sol amongst Hole19 Golfers. The Old Course's wide fairways and elevated greens make this championship course a challenge for both professionals and amateurs of all levels.
# 2 Club de Golf La Cañada - 4.4 out of 5
Located in the Sotogrande Resort, municipality of San Roque, Cádiz, this golf course's entertaining and not very long fairways, fast greens, large trees and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea provide golfers with ideal settings to enjoy both the sun and nature.
#3 Baviera Golf - 4.3 out of 5
Situated in a well-deserved third place on our list, Baviera Golf is distinguished by its wide greens and a great variety of hazards, which makes this course an ideal design for all types of handicap.
#4 Magna Marbella Golf - 4 out of 5
This nine-hole golf course can be incredibly easy on the eye but still provide a challenge. The greens are well protected by bunkers with an array of water hazards making this short golf course a test for any golfer. If you play at Magna Marbella, time will not be an issue; you can comfortably get around this course within two hours.
#5 Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort (Links) - 4.4 out of 5
As the only links course in southern Europe, Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort is an extremely popular golfing venue. You'll play most of the holes flanked by the beach and if you can take your eyes away from the stunning sea views, the inland scenery is equally as impressive. As with any links course, the challenge here is presented by the prevailing winds and golfers will need to have their wits about them to come away with a good score and all the golf balls they started the round with.
#6 Guadalhorce Club de Golf - 4.3 out of 5
Just 7 km from Malaga airport, Guadalhorce Club de Golf is an 18-hole course divided into two very different areas. From the 1st to the 9th, the fairways are flat with no major hazards, however, from the 9th to the 18th the course gets quite tricky. The terrain becomes more uneven, the greens are raised and the fairways become more of a challenge to hit.
#7 El Paraíso Golf Club - 4.1 out of 5
The layout of the course, which is positioned within beautiful scenery, provides an enjoyable test that is also equally fair, challenging and rewarding for golfers of all abilities. El Paraiso presents generous fairways set amongst palms and pines, oleanders and olive trees with meandering streams and two magnificent lakes.
#8 Añoreta Golf - 3.9 out of 5
Surrounded by trees and water, Añoreta Golf has an impeccable course design, with spectacular holes such as hole 7. The golf course offers incredible sea views, specifically hole 17, which is a superb par 3 surrounded by water. This 18-hole Golf Course can be played by either beginners or experienced golfers.
#9 Parador de Málaga Golf (Old Course) - 4.0 out of 5
If you love both golf and the sea, this is the ideal Golf Course for you, having direct access to a magnificent white-sand beach. Parador de Málaga is a two-story building with spacious, comfortable guest rooms that offer lovely sea views.
#10 Santana Golf & Country Club - 4.4 out of 5 stars
Last year Santana Golf & Country Club was the most played golf course amongst Hole19 golfers... can it regain the first place again?
It's a technically demanding course set within a former avocado plantation. To shoot a solid score takes accuracy from tee to green and challenges all aspects of any golfers game.
